Errington House is a classic Northumbrian farmhouse, dating back to the early 18th century, situated in a beautiful valley just off the A68. It is only a few minutes north of the attractive and interesting village of Corbridge, with the market town of Hexham only a little further away. As one of our guests said: “a lovely old house in a beautiful landscape”.
Although the house couldn’t have a more rural setting, it is only 35 minutes from central Newcastle and 25 minutes from the city’s international airport. Heading north it is 2 hours to the centre of Edinburgh.
The house has been thoroughly and sympathetically renovated, and is very comfortable with modern facilities, including fast fibre WiFi throughout. It is a really good base from which to get to know beautiful and historic Northumberland.

From Errington you can visit the North and South Tyne Valleys, the Coast, Simonside, Coquetdale, Kielder, the moors of Allendale and Blanchland, the Border Fence, and of course Hadrian’s Wall, which lies about a mile south of the house. We are also very close to the southern end of St Oswald’s Way, at Heavenfield, a beautiful place which is not to be missed.
It’s not all about walking though. Non-walkers will find much to enjoy. There will be time to visit Corbridge and Hexham, which are interesting and attractive places in their own right as well as offering opportunities for a bit of retail therapy, particularly in Corbridge.
Alternatively you might like to check out one or more of the several English Heritage or National Trust properties nearby. All are well worth your attention. Do bring your cards if you are members.
We provide our guests with our own guide to places to go and things to see from Errington, and also a guide to the local restaurants and pubs which we can recommend (and one or two which we don’t recommend).
Please note that there are no places to eat within walking distance of the house.
